The Algal Bloom Action Team (ABAT) is a collaboration of water professionals, researchers and educators from the 12 states in the North Central Region of the United States. The team partners Cooperative Extensions from the states’ land-grant universities with Water Resources Research Institutes (WRRI) to asses current harmful algal bloom (HAB) research, outreach, and education efforts. ABAT aims to take the results from research, including WRRI sponsored research, and transform it into accessible information and tangible tools for the public through extension and outreach in concert with state-based harmful algal bloom prevention, monitoring, and response efforts.
